Imagine travelling, not by car, but by bicycle (or on foot) along majestic cliffs, rolling countryside, quiet coves, visiting picturesque villages and historic towns. Cornwall County Council & Sustrans have been responsible for a new project known as 'The Cornish Way' (completed in June 2000). This forms the Cornish leg of the National Cycle Network, and will cover the whole of the county, down to Land's End, with specialist signposted routes for cyclists, walkers, and wheelchair users. |

The Cornish Way consists of 5 themed trails -'The St. Piran Trail'; 'The North Cornwall Trail'; 'The Coast and Clay Trail'; 'The Engine House Trail'; and 'The First and Last Trail'. Each one linking towns and villages with local heritage, wildlife, cultural, and major visitor attractions. They are accessible from public transport routes, and ideal for both a leisurely day out or a long-distance trip: the whole network covers 170 miles (275 km) of the county's most distinctive and scenic landscapes. Cornish Way Booklets and Maps are available from the Tourist Information Centres |
